galing ng concept ah, sana may BR para masubukan to.

yes I think you may call that an overlay.  2k guaranteed nila for every 10 handed table formed.  So you win sa elimination and you get a chance to win again sa final table.  This is a true test of wit.  Cash game players vs tournament/sit and go players.  But its essentially still a sit and go kaya lang ang chips mo is 1 is to 1.

sa mga sit and go and cash game experts tingin ko this is your kind of tournament.

The shoot out portion is not rake free, so assuming 10,000 pesos br of each table, per hour the total br will decrease by at least 1500 pesos. After 2 hours the poker room will already start making profit deducting 2000 for the final table pot for each full table.

yes I think they will open more tables for late comers its a shootout naman.  how late yan di natin alam.  ;D calling malate poker ;D

Yup tama si welcoat may rake pala.  But I think 1k in a cash table will not last you 2 hours? even so its still an interesting tourney to try and even if it came from the rake at least the winners get their rakes back  and then some more;D ;D

Unlike a typical cash game, no new players shall be coming into table as soon as game starts with maximum 10 players and BR of 10,000.  Every hour of play, cash game rake is around 1,000 to 3,000 (20-30 deals per hour), a good tight SNG normally last no more 4 hours with increasing blinds.  If a player folds every hand he can last at least 10 hours and may place second on table(to reach finals) and both goes home with less than 500 pesos if they are lucky with chance to win 10k(? if no chop).
When 10 human beings wants to play poker game with 500 (or 1000)
pesos each, it is more rational to do a winner take all or the typical 50-30-20 pot award.
When 50 human beings wants to play poker game with 500 (or 1000) pesos each, the BR is already 25,000 to 50,000 PESOS!
This 'creative' cash tournament with imaginary 'overlay' pot of 10,000 pesos is negative expected value and negative time value.  This is the reason no poker tournament director will create nor a rational poker player participates in such 'game'.
Players, for meaning of tournament overlay please refer to the dictionary according to Metro Card Club and Big Ace Liberty Club.  I strived to make one of my most diplomatic post in PM in the spirit of Christmas. PEACE AND GOODWILL TOWARDS ALL MANKIND!

PS: AttyBubba, sorry if your nose bleeds again.

Doc harry, fortunately that dictionary is found in the heart of everyone who has experience playing in their overlayed tourneys especially the last 2 million pesos pot wherein you made a lot of moolah, to my envy.

Naku sir, lady luck was beside me on more than one hand that time. Obviously, I still have a lot to learn. Important talaga to be interacting and listening to other, more experienced, more knowledgeable players. Gem advice from one of the books in my small poker library (Your Best Poker Friend). Thanks to PokerManila that beginners and noobs like me get to learn more than a bit more from the people here.

PS: AttyBubba, sorry if your nose bleeds again.

very good analysis from our resident PM TD.  But let's give it a try I think people will find it +ev playing the game they love and showcase their skills in tourney play and cash game.  Poker rooms still need to recoup their expenses somewhere some how.  1k buyin in a cash game scenario will not last you 10 hours for sure if thats the case then welcoat is right house wins but come to think of it di ba parati naman house ang panalo sa cash game? ;)  Lets give some suggestions na lang on how they can further improve their "cash" tourney

For my fellow newbies who happened to read this thread, here's what I came up with re: my previous question to sir welcoat about what an overlay really means.

Chair, no need to sell out, this is counter productive to what PM is all about.  Please verify if it has been PagCor approved.

I don't get it, cash game tournament?... Buy-in 500 so how much do you start with? No time limit or increasing blinds? So how do you eliminate a player might take really long...

I don't get it, cash game tournament?... Buy-in 500 so how much do you start with? No time limit or increasing blinds? So how do you eliminate a player might take really long...
Elimination Shootout:

1. Maximum of 50 players only. Game will start when minimum
    2 tables are formed.
2. The players can automatically rebuy/add on after the first hand.
3. Final 2 players of each table will qualify for the final table. They
are to cash out their chips as their winnings before final table will
    start.
4. Strictly no collusion on the table. Strictly no passing of chips.
5. The management has all the rights to penalize all players that will
be caught conniving with other players.
6. Games will be strictly monitored by our house securities and CCTv
    coverage.

FINAL TABLE:

1. The amount of their cash chips after the elimination shootout will
be the amount of their tournament chips.

2.  P 2,000 guaranteed for each full table (10 players) formed in the
     shootout elimination.

Illustration:

If 5 tables were formed then 10k will be the prize pool for the final table.

3.  No chop policy in the final table will be enforced.

 Final table tournament blind structures:

BLINDS         MINUTES PER LEVEL
 25/50             15 mins.
50/100            15 mins.
100/200            15mins.
200/400            15mins.
300/600            15mins.
400/800            15mins.
500/1000            15mins.
and so on ....
