SUNSHINE SAMSON OUT IN 7TH PLACE (50,000 PESOS + FPT SEAT)

The preflop action was folded to Sunshine in the SB, who made a standard raise of 48k. Aaron in the BB battled back and announced all-in, putting the only lady in the final table in a decision for her tournament life.

Sunshine called and the cards were tabled.

Aaron: Ah 10h

Sunshine: Jh Jc

Sunshine was ahead but the tide quickly turned in favor of Aaron when the flop brought Ac along with Ks and 7s.

The turn and river of 9s and Asp didn't help Sunshine and she hit the rail in 7th place, much to the disappointment of majority of the crowd rooting for arguably the best lady player in the country.

And the tournament is now down to six players.

ROMMEL ATIGA OUT IN 6TH PLACE (60,000 PESOS + FPT SEAT)

With his stack running critically low, Rommel deemed it the perfect opportunity to increase his stack when the action was folded to him in the cutoff, so he shoved his remaining 195k.

Both the players in the blinds asked for a chip count but only Percy in the BB made the call.

Rommel: Kc 6d

Percy: Ah 6h

The board ran 8c 10d 3h 9s 4h and none of those cards was able to save Rommel from hitting the exit door.

PLAY SLOWS DOWN

After three consecutive eliminations, the remaining players seemed to be playing conservative again and most of the pots were won preflop.

JEFFREY CRUZ OUT IN 5TH PLACE (80,000 PESOS + FPT SEAT)

Finally after more than an hour of little actions, we had an all-in preflop battle that led to the elimination of Jeffrey Cruz.

At the button, Aaron raised to 70k and from the SB Jeff quickly announced all-in. Aaron snap-called and everybody woke up from slumber for we now have the much awaited showdown.

Jeff: 4h 4s

Aaron: Ad Ah

That put Jeff's tournament life at risk and he's way behind as the cards were tabled.

The flop of As 8d 5d further improved Aaron's lead, with Jeff needing a runner-runner miracle to stay.

The turn of 10h dealt Jeff the knockout blow and the river of 8s just formalized his exit as the 5th place finisher.

So we're now down to four players -- one korean and three Filipinos with Chinese blood. How ironic.

SEUNG SOO JEON OUT IN 4TH PLACE (100,000 PESOS + FPT SEAT)

Jeon limped from the UTG and when the action reached Aaron at the SB, he made a standard raise to 90k. Percy in the BB folded and Jeon shoved his remaining 500k or so only to see Aaron snap calling with Ah Ac.

Jeon showed Kh 5h, putting him about 4 to 1 underdog with his tournament life at risk.

The flop of Qd 10d 4s further reduced Jeon's chance to stay in the game, and the turn of 2h made him drawing dead and the 8s in the river sealed the deal, giving Aaron another huge pot, while sending the Korean to the cage to collect his prize.

PERCY SHY OUT IN 3RD PLACE (170,000 PESOS + FPT SEAT)

After being forced to fold to a check-raise in the previous hand, Percy was faced with a preflop raise from Aaron at the button.

Apparently trying to get back, Percy pushed all-in in the SB, and after Bernard in the BB folded, Aaron immediately made the call.

Percy: Ks 3s

Aaron Jc Jd

The board of Qc 6s 2h 9h Ac didn't change their preflop standing and Percy found himself without a chip, while Aaron will go heads up with Bernard holding a mammoth 3.3-million to 866k advantage.

FIRST ALL-IN OF HU IS ...... A CHOP!!!!

Aaron from the button to 60k. Bernard called.

Flop: 10c 3h 3s

Bernard bet 90k and Aaron announced a reraise but before he could say the amount, Bernard pushed all-in. Aaron insta-called

Bernard: 10h 7 c

Aaron: Ks 10s

That put Aaron ahead but the turn of Ac increased the chance of a chop to around 90% and the Jd on the river resulted in a split decision.

BERNARD CHUA DOUBLES UP

The action started with Chua limping from the button, and Lee raised from the big blind for 70,000 more, Chua quickly shoves his remaining stack and Lee insta calls, Chua is not happy with the call as he shows 3c 5c while Lee shows Ks Qh, The flop of 8d 4d 4h didn't help Chua but he takes the lead as the turn of 3d hits, and Chua has one more card to go for his double up and the river of Js didn't help Lee and Chua has now more than 2,200,000

WE HAVE A CHAMPION...AND HE'S AARON LEE!!!

On the flop of Js 2s 5d on the 16th hand of heads up play, Bernard led out for 200k, which was raised to 600k by Aaron. Bernard battled back by declaring all-in.

After calculating the odds, Aaron made the call

Bernard: 8h 5h

Aaron: 9h 2h

Bernard was ahead with the midpair as opposed to Aaron's bottom pair, but the turn of 2d turned the tide in favor of Aaron and the river of 3d didn't change that.

Thus, Bernard exited in 2nd place, earning him 320,000 plus a seat to the upcoming FPT 14.

Aaron, on the other hand, walked away with the 625,000 pesos, an FPT seat and the distinction as the champion of the Metro Independence Day Special P2-million guaranteed tourney.

Congrats to both of them.
