well, some jackxxs decided to lower to 15 minutes per level after round 6.  THe tournament is still fresh and near full handed.  what a way to sabotage a tournament!  day 2 shall start with round 13 per latest revision with blinds 2000-4000 400.  The only positive is final table shall roll back to round 20 10k-20k 2k, but it is still going to be donkfest, trust me- unless day 2 is restored to full 20.

a tourney becomes "donkfest" because of the late introduction of antes and its size (small) relative to the blinds.

with no antes even at 400-800 level, players tend to be tight (why not as there's not too many chips in the pot to open up your game) and at this point the average stack is somewhere around 25BB with most players having around 15 to 20BBs.

And then comes the ante stage. At level 7, a 10-handed table would only have 2,800 dead money and with the players playing tight in the previous rounds (not much reward to steal preflop as you can only take the SB and BB while risking 3BBs) the average stack would be at less than 20BB with most players having around 13 to 15 BBs.

So i believe that the reason a tourney becomes donkfest is not because of the duration but on the blinds structure.

Take the case of the 20K gtd at empire, the tourney has a starting stack of only 8K (160BBs) and 15 minutes per level but if i remember it right, they introduce the antes at level 3 or 4 with the ante representing 25% of the SB most of the time. Without rolling back the blinds, you can have a final table with average stack of over 20BBs.

An aggro will steal even without ante and nit will stay tight even if you introduce ante level 1.  The texture of each table is dependent on actual players dynamics.  When the game is turbo relative to the structure with blinds increasing geometrically, EVERYONE has to play hands against their will, this is not poker.
