Success Online
« on: November 03, 2011, 02:10:28 AM »
Hey PM members. I've been trying to grind online on PS and I can never seem to make it big. I've tried investing money and time to it but I always end up losing every last penny I invested online. I was hoping some of you could give me tips on how to make it online. How much money should my starting bankroll be? What games should I be playing? How long on the average should I be playing? Tips from the people who are very successful online, (ian, SQUi5HiiFiSH, Wonderdog, etc) just to name a few would be great! Thanks Guys! Appreciate it!

Bro, grind sa stakes na comfortable ka. Don't risk more than 10% of your BR in one session. Set an itinerary every time you play(no. of hours alloted for cash games, SNG's, MTT's). Manage your BR wisely, set a limit sa profit and loss every session. Be patient lang bro, Im sure you'll have a good run soon.

Playing will not be enough if you are not learning. Instead of just asking others what has worked for them, you need to be self aware and know your own strengths and weaknesses.

Can't stress enough the importance of BRM.  That is the number 1 key in my opinion in succeeding online.  You shouldn't be going broke time and again if you practice this religiously.  Also just like any job, time and hard work is essential.  Put in the proper hours and never give up and eventually you will reach your goals.  Always be critical of your own play and be brutally honest with yourself.

With regards to how much you should have and what games you should be playing.  Start with a BR you are comfortable with at the stakes you are comfortable with and feel you can beat over time.   Also find a game you can beat.  When i started i was trying out everything, i got my money down to like $5 one day just trying all kinds of games from SNG to cash games.  With the last $5 i just joined a bunch of SNG and a 180 sng for 2.20.  Binked that one and just grinded that exclusively to 4 straight winning months.  So its important to find a game you feel fits your skill set.  Although starting out just stick with cash games and work relentlessly at getting better there

Just a question, do you guys think there is sense in playing pokerstrategy $50 initial BR at Everest Poker? I've quadrupled my IBR and based on what i've read, it would take me atleast 120days before i can make withdrawals, am i really gonna gain profit here if i maintain my BR til then? Any of you tried this? What happened?

base on my experience on everest.I just made a deposit of $5 with entropay.then made a withdrawal once entropay is available on the withdrawal drop-down method menu.It took 35 hours to be processed.but the funds took 4 days to show on my entro accnt. w/c is typical using entro.I know urs is a bit different since ur br came from a pokerstrategy, but i think my post will give you a positive insight on ur everest funds.keep playing and winning sir until you meet the terms of the free BR.then when its ok for you to withdraw.just do as I did so you can transfer it to ps and sell it like I always do.BOW!!:D

agree with the importance of BRM, but ask yourself first, what's your goal?

agree with this a lot, I think this should be your starting point. Put aside a very very small percentage of your BR to find out what games you like playing and more importantly you are beating (or think you can beat in the long run). Lay out your rules on paper (how many hours to play, how many sessions, etc etc and make sure you abide by them, assess, execute, then assess again, rinse and repeat). Bankroll management is great but if you are a losing player doesn't matter if you have 1000x buyin you will lose all of it eventually if you don't know what you should be playing in the first place...

The hardest thing of being an online player, for me its the part where theres just so many games to choose from that you cant concentrate on just one and cant stop playing because in just one click theres always a seat available for you...

I just dont have the patience of waiting for myself to cool down especially comin from a losing table...

I tried to concentrate on playing heads up sit n go when I was still playing on my old PS account.. from $12 I managed to win around $250 in less than 5hrs... Then lose it all the next day... Its just hard for me to have a BRM attitude when you know that every game is just one click away...

unlike on a live game where when you feel like your on tilt, you can just simply walk away on the table or simply go home and call it a day, especially when you ran out of funds already (not applicable in baccarat).. But in online poker, your funds is just sitting there waiting for you to click them on some cash games or sit n go's...

In live games I can keep myself being a tight player all day long especially if im on the winning side early in the game.. But online...? The earlier that I win, the more that I wanted to play on bigger tables... hehehe

So I guess its just me right?? It doesnt matter if its online poker or live poker... its all me...

I know this may sound obvious, but i think a lot take it for granted: find a game you beat, and just play it over and over again until you're rich. :)
