PS SnG grind
« on: December 15, 2011, 10:52:22 AM »
Hi, ask ko lang sa mga online pro / sharks dito sa PM. I'm planning to start play online sng in PS, micro sng lang. yung 25$ BR is enough na ba to grind purely sa 0.25 90man sng? or need ko pa dagdagan? pure sng lang no ring game.

Also, kailangan na ba yung mga softwares like PT, HUD, HEM for grinding sa micro sng? Hope to hear some tips from you guys. thanks.  8)

Not a grinder, but you gain those all-important small edges, especially against the fish, if you use a HUD.

Right now I'm playing 45man 0.25 on Stars. BR $35. Ok naman yung BR mo, that's 100 buy-ins for your game. You need as much for SNG's if you read around.

play $0.25 45 man SNG non turbo or lower. jump to another stake if you reach 100 buy ins for the next stake. you could also play those $1.10 or lower MTT if you like.

HUD is useful if you have, but you should be good at push and shove game at late stages.

I already downloaded pt3 pero trial lang, medyo nalilito pa ako. download pa lang ako ng HUD, i'll be grinding over weekend.

Ano bang mas ok doc 0.25 45man or 0.25 90man? minsan sinisingit ko yung 0.10 10th aniv tourney with additional 1k$.

stick to 0.25 45man.. 0.25 90man can take upto 4 hours if you final table

also play as many tables as you can, you can move up faster. i play 40 tables per set  :D

thanks, low limits muna siguro ako since nag-sstart pa lang ako. saka di naman full time grind eh, usually one set lang after office tapos weekend grind.

usually nagfifinal table ako sa 90man, pero ur right nga na matagal ang inaabot. I might try to alternate it to find my comfort zone, as of now i'll stick muna sa 90man for a few sets.  :D

+1 on the comfort level. I usually I either get it all-in early and get busted out with my premiums/superdraws losing out to badbeats or I final table/bubble in the 45-mans. Hoping to grind up my BR so I can start playing ST-SNG's mixed in. Trying to avoid the longer hours and variance of the 90mans.

Just finished Colin Moshman's book on SNGs. He has a schedule suggestion wherein you time how long you get to the high-blind levels where you need to play more hands aggressively then start a new table a few minutes before you hit that time. It allows you to multitable while keeping your concentration on the more critical table (the later stage one) while you stay a bit tighter on the new table because of the low blind levels. Might try that for size. :)

I'd like to get an idea of the color-coding that some people use for HUD stats. :)

I won't recommend .25 45 man nor 90, I tried both earlier upon hearing advice from a fellow PMer, to stick on my BR, and right now as i start my BR can allow me to play .25 SNG MTT, But upon placing 2nd on 45man .25, I took me 3 long hours just for that, and with your current set up vs time constraints it would be a total waste for $3 prize. I would rather exchange much needed rest that play at it.

Maybe for me i just need to do some mark-up on my BR just to play the usual turbo SNG MTT's.

With all due respect sir, but at the stakes most of us are at, proper BRM will really just allow us 0.25 BI games unless one does as arvyt suggested. I think the best thing to do to bump up the ROI is to play more han one table. But one has to start somewhere. And $2.xx may not seem worth it for 2+ hrs work if you look at it from a working perspective, but that's nanostakes for you. :)

WPP! ;)

+1 doc , well said :)

As per arvyt's suugestion, it's a good suggestion but also due to time problems i think it doesn't suits for me as of the moment. Might consider it din when i'm already confident with my online game since technichally i'm still a newbie (fish) in online poker.  8) 8)

Interesting that nobody considers single table sng's. Is it because it really been solved no more edges and fishes?

too many regs at the low/mid stakes ( you will have a small edge if you r good at exploiting regs)
+ rake is too big (good for RB pros)
