The biggest overlays were always the saturday big tourneys and the big wednesday 3k for the record.  Now even if the wednesday big is only 1500 buy in with re entry, surprise surprise overlay still occurs.  IT IS NOT THE STRUCTURE, IT IS THE ECONOMY...

eh bakit dati pag dumating ka ng 7 p.m. sa metro ubos na seat kahit 1k buy-in? there was a time nga na somebody approached me and offered to buy my seat in the Metro 75 for 1.5k kasi puno na 80 players max. Syempre binenta ko sabay takbo sa big ace for the P300 buy-in tourney

So i would recommend to test out the waters for the metro for no guarantee touney's with a little higher buy in for about a week and see who shows up and plays. Just to see if it will be quality players. I would play it.

Top-heavy prize payout + bad economy (=less fish) + collusion (=bad rep for poker =even fewer fish) + competition (albeit small) = OVERLAYS IN WEEKLY TOURNEYS

Factor in freerolls (aka informal HP recruitment) taking away more players dreaming for a score, and online poker with a better ROI per time invested if you're good, then you have a smaller market for daily/weekly tourneys.

I wonder how this daily overlay adds up compared to the potential overlay of a guaranteed major tourney.

we have not tap the 1% of the population. and i still believe that there is still more things we can do to tap the market.

right now i am semi-active sharing my ideas to one poker house. im not working for them. im just sharing my ideas to them. well somewhat nakikinig sila pero sometimes they would change it dahil may "expert" na nagpapakitang gilas.

like yung active topic na lower the buy in in metro.

i could give you an idea that could make your tournament better that would lower the guarantee and yet

1. lower the over all overhead cost/overlay.
2. increase tournament patronage
3. increase cash-game patronage.

baka naman mamya pagsuspetsahan na naman akong nag aapply ng marketing or house player. if people request it. i really have no issue of posting the whole raw idea here.

the biggest reason i do not express it openly because an idea is one thing. implementation is another. minsan and idea maski gaano kaganda pag hindi naman naimplement ng husto. wala ring kwenta.

I am not sure the Metro is really concerned how the nitely tourneys goes, overlay or not...the  reason they budget only 6 tournament tables nitely.  last week thursday's 60k gtd i was 15th on alternates list, good thing table 19 - the last table available at the far end was finally released for us.
why overlay 15k when you can get same result with 10k-5k or even zero?
zero overlay at 3k buy in? lucky if you get 40 runners.  the reason they showed up before for the big buy in was the POT SIZE!  YES, IT IS TRUE MANY PLAYERS JOIN TOURNAMENTS PURELY ON BASIS OF POT SIZE, but never me.

i always disappear and appear from time to time. i never thought of the metro whenever i think of my ideas to be honest. i prefer smaller poker houses because they tend to have more room to grow and maneuver.

as i said. i share my ideas because i want the poker industry to grow. and i do this things so there could be an exchange of ideas. ke mali or tama ako. i still find exchange of ideas to be nice.

there are more than one way to increase patronage to a tournament than just increasing the pot. and time will prove that i am correct.
