This one I am playing when available, 400-1 GTD pot to buy in ratio, can direct buy in even if I shall not win any satellite seats.  IMHO, any major events should have at minimum of 300-1 ratio.  No regrets in skipping the current PPT, hope the re-entries were worth it for others.

but let's hope metro adopts the PPT structure as it has proven that despite the 20k starting stack and 60 mins per level the field can be reduced as targeted just with a well-proportioned blinds-to-ante ratio.

In the current metro major tourney structure (15k starting stack, 40 mins per level) Day 1 usually ends with 1/3 of the starting field left with the average stack of 30 to 40 BBs or sometimes even less thus forcing a rollback.

In the PPT structure Day 1 ends with 1/3 of the starting field left with the average stack of 60 BBs!!!

And if you've played in both -- or if you played in the APT main event -- you can see the difference in the quality of play.

Atty. Allado is right when he said something to the effect that in most tourneys here, metro majors included, we're not really playing poker, because of the bad structure.

What I've noticed (in my limited tourney experience) is that Filipino's tend to bet based on stack size not blinds so even if a tourney has deep stacks they still play the same way if the tourney had avg stacks of 25bb...

The major tourneys organized by the Metro have been successful, some of which end up being overlayed but which is not accidental.  No matter how you well-structured the tourney it is always the playing field that shall dictate the game quality.  Early on, the idea of roll back was initiated to correct any technicalities.
The culprits are the regular tournaments that abound the players get accustomed to without realizing adjustments necessary for each type of game.
POKERSTARS (online) UNDERSTANDS TOURNAMENTS AND HAS ALREADY SET STANDARDS, being original is not necessarily the best action in this matter.

yeah agree, but having a deepstack gives the more skillful players the edge and when most of them are left they can play more poker with a very deep stack.

What I'm trying to point out is if metro is worried that a PPT-like structure prolong the tournament or the number of tables being used thus affecting their income, they shouldn't be as it has proven otherwise by this inaugural PPT leg.

Also, there is really a science in making the blinds structure and the best structure is the one that gradually reduces the field but at the same time keeping the tourney from being a luckfest. APT has a very good structure, PPT likewise. So let's hope metro would would follow suit.
