Pop!
Sizzle....

Cold Beers all around at 10:46am...

Was gettin' hot in here earlier ;)

As a newbie, we (ormaybe just I) couldnt care less about blinds, structures, etc... Fornow i just wanna play... BUT I wanna learn how to play in the right structure/setting so that when I finally join super major tourneys(soon soon sooooon!) hindi na ako magugulat or maninibago sa (tamang/universally applied) blinds-antes-structures...

WPP... which i actually dont know the acronym for, is it a) world peace po or b) world poker peace or c) world peace pokerists or maybe d) winning poker player... List is endless

Iced super cold beer anyone?

when are you going to invite us to lucena? lapit na fiesta jan ah  ;D

-  ian... invite mo nalang sya mag join sa hypermod freeroll>>>>>>

next week ang fiesta (30) pero now na ang masaya sarado ang main street then bawat corner/kanto me band at nag iinom. di mo pa ba na experience fiesta sa Lucena T4dc?   Mmmmm pano pag madami kayo e d hindi kayo nagkasya samin, unless squeezy will accommodate some  ;) hehehhe ayaw ng mga taga dito naman makipagpoker pag and2 kayo matatalo lang daw kami na tama nga naman ;)

Go go go! Sa freeroll ;)

C-C-CC-CCCC-COMBO BREAKER!!!

Hahaha :D

+1
Sa 1hr blind tourney with gradual early and fast late structure!!
Hindi naman dahil sa pabor sa mga pro un IMO pabor nga satin mga casual players yun ganun structure at least we can wait for good hands and not worry about plays/bluff/ICM and others. Sa PPT ko lang naexperience ang discipline fold kasi deep pa naman in relation to blinds.

+1
sa mga PH players that play stack related not blind related..

Why create more losers if more players will be happy to play again if they just min cash/money back. We cannot expand poker in PH if we make one man a millionaire at the expense of 20 others? Pwede naman 900k lang sa champ then ung 20 others may tig 5kish..

Smart money will of course play a 2m gtd 5k buy in even if it is played in antipolo, laguna or even dreaded cavite, no questions on blind or prize structure necessarily need to be entertained. Gambling money will of course play the same highly touted PPT blind structure even if payouts never improved.

I'm quite confused on your position sir.
This is not my position, it is my belief how the market will react.

then why not support the best structured tourney?
the best structured does not exist yet imho.  in terms of support you meant i should play it? even if it does exist, there is limit to what i am willing to spent on a poker tourney, something like 500 pesos (movie tickets at 200 is a no-no by the way).
for 1000, i can have more fun doing something else in horizontal position(or a good book many years hundreds of books ago) or buy 3 packs of lavazza italy 250gms espresso 100% arabica ( at rustan's supermart) for more than 100 servings of very good coffee from my bargain 8,000 pesos krups espresso-XP5280 purchased from last macau trip.
for 2000 i can buy 4g mobile broadband usb modem that provides 1000-5000 kbps to watch NBA live and/or replays indefinitely.
for 3000 round trip ticket to macau or hk
for 5000 round trip ticket to singapore or guangzhou
anything more of course we talk about hi tech products which has always been my fetish.

every day i also spent small amount money like 15p large macdo sundae cone(4.5 twirl, rather than 10p for 2.5), 60p macdo meal with upsize 1 refill arabica brewed coffee (not so good but best option when on the road and available every where) , saving 1 peso per liter of car fuel are all big deals in my +EV mindset.
by the way i am sure you understand $10 in pokerstars goes a long way if it is poker itch we have.

Let's say we'll make a Welcoat Poker Tour (WPT) or Welcoat Series of Poker (WSOP), what then should be the best structure for it considering all the dynamics?

someday if i feel charitable that is what i plan to organize for others and the buy in shall be 200 only, 30 minutes, 100bb, freeze-out, 100-100(i like your idea of heading straight into middle game to save game time), ante when sb is 400.
start on time.
100-100
100-200
200-400
300-600
registration closed for alternates or late comers with full 10k starting stacks
400-800 100
500-1000 100
600-1200 200
800-1600 200

1000-2000 300

3000-6000  1000
3500-7000  1000
4000-8000 1000

6000-12000 1500
8000-16000 2000

and so on...but 10 hours should be more than enough
prize structure 40 runners+
25% champ
15% 2nd
10% 3rd
ITM is 20%

this is of course not perfect but it shall be good for the community to play daily as practice makes perfect, imho.

this is one standard we need not follow WSOP 10% more or less.  it is call socialized prize structure as we are still developing new players, no need to make the champ super happy at the expense of 90%, happy is good enough.  to make the game mass market(democratization regardless of race, creed, sex, age and all the bs), there is need to make low entry point via tournament (chips not cash chips) for fun of winning competition but agony of losing not so painful to attract repeat customers aka fish.

LOL Del sometimes the world you see as ideal is quite unique.  Anyway WSOP should be the default structure till another industry standard can be developed which promotes the game the right way.

Turbo for a major tournament? ???
majors come and go even if monthly, so it's effect one way or another is not critical.
i never played majors until my first FPT and landed finals by sheer luck.
we have no repeat major champs other than KENT at FPT and courtesy of my bad play, yet.

someday if i feel charitable that is what i plan to organize for others and the buy in shall be 200 only, 30 minutes, 100bb, freeze-out, 100-100(i like your idea of heading straight into middle game to save game time), ante when sb is 400.
start on time.
100-100
100-200
200-400
300-600
registration closed for alternates or late comers with full 10k starting stacks
400-800 100
500-1000 100
600-1200 200
800-1600 200

1000-2000 300
1200-2400 300
1500-3000 500
2000-4000 500

2500-5000 500
3000-6000  1000
3500-7000  1000
4000-8000 1000

5000-10000 1500
6000-12000 1500
8000-16000 2000
10000-20000 2500
and so on...but 10 hours should be more than enough
prize structure 40 runners+
25% champ
15% 2nd
10% 3rd
ITM is 20%

this is of course not perfect but it shall be good for the community to play daily as practice makes perfect, imho.

LOL Del sometimes the world you see as ideal is quite unique.  Anyway WSOP should be the default structure till another industry standard can be developed which promotes the game the right way.

very much agree

If I'm gonna be hired to run the Welcoat Series of Poker and be given the blanket authority to create the structure as well as the payouts, it will be like this: same blinds structure as PPT but will pay 20% of the field.

well it shall not happen as it won't be a major event nor 1 hour, you once already had power to make change but lost it already.

The Metro Independence Day Tournament is Back
May 15, 2012 (14 days ago) by Adam Smith

http://www.pokerportal.asia/featured-articles/the-metro-independence-day-tournament-is-back

The Metro Independence Day Tournament (MIDT) is once again returning to Metro Card Club, Ortigas – the biggest card room in the Philippines – on June 14-19, 2012 and is a chance for local players to celebrate Philippines Independence Day in style. The tournament will feature a PHP 5000 buy-in this time around, as opposed to last year’s PHP 3000, while the guaranteed prize pool will remain at PHP 2 million.

The 2011 running of the tournament saw Julian Lagman rise to the top from 708 runners. The buy-in may have been an affordable one but the field included such names as Neil Arce, Mark Pagsuyuin, Martin Corpuz, Don Carmona, Mark Rivera, Melvin Matibag, Wally Sombero, Martin Gonzales and former WPT champion Russell Blattberg. Lagman took home PHP 650,000 in first place prize money after a gruelling nine-hour final table.

The Metro Card Club is holding daily satellite tournaments feeding into the MIDT. On Sunday to Friday at 2.30pm, the METRO500 includes one seat to the MIDT. On Wednesday at 7pm, there are five seats up for grabs in the METRO 1.5.0 and on Friday at 7pm the METRO 100k includes four seats to the MIDT.

MIDT 2012 Schedule

June 14-16, 3pm – Day 1A, 1B, 1C
June 17, 3pm – Day 2
June 18, 3pm – Day 3
June 19, Time TBA – Final Day

For more information visit the Metro Card Club’s website.
BLESS your BETS!

Metro Card holds P2 million poker tourney
(The Philippine Star) Updated June 04, 2012 12:00 AM

MANILA, Philippines - The Metro Card Club – the biggest card room in Asia – once again plays host to one of the much anticipated poker tournaments in the country, the Metro Independence Day Tournament June 14-19 at the Metrowalk Complex in Ortigas, Pasig.

The annual event offers a guaranteed prize pool of P2-million with a lion’s share – more than half a million – of it going to the last man standing after six days of grueling mind game.

The buy-in for this tournament is P5,000 but players can get in with a much cheaper investment by playing in Metro’s daily tournaments which offer seats to the MIDT.

Last year saw 708 players competing in the event with Julian Lagman emerging as the champion and pocketing P650,000.
