Year 2015 isn't even one-month old, but already a lot had happened in the Philippine poker scene. A new card room has opened, a string of big tournaments were held and together with that, a number of issues and controversies erupted.
In this blog, I'd like to offer my thoughts on some, if not all, of the issues that we're dealt. But before I'm telling you, my fellow pokeristas: We're still in for a lot!
Let's begin with the arrival of the big one - Pokerstars Live at the City of Dream Manila.
I agree with the observation that the room is pretty, though it's pretty cold. The set-up is actually very much the same as the one they have in Macau, except that it's colder here grin emoticon . It's also nice that Pokerstars sent an expert in Gil Alim to lead its operations here.
one of the first negative feedbacks I've heard was the "incompetence"
of some of its floor managers - some are veterans in the casino
industry, they said, but aren't well-versed in poker - and dealers. I
think there are a couple of dozens of COD dealers, who came from Metro
and other poker rooms, so perhaps they should assign them there, while
training those who are less-experienced. Maybe they can also promote
some of those experienced dealers into floor managers.
